What to share before a first groom

A first groom is easier to discuss when the everyday details are already in one place. Describe the coat you see, the handling your pet knows and the finish you have in mind.

An owner getting to know a relaxed dog’s coat before grooming

A first groom is easier to discuss when the everyday details are already in one place. Describe the coat you see, the handling your pet knows and the finish you have in mind. With Furora in Cedar Vale, start with the details you want to discuss.

Start with their grooming history

Note the last grooming date and the brushing routine your pet is familiar with. Mention any areas you have found difficult to manage, rather than guessing what treatment they need. A photograph or a description can start the conversation, but the current coat and the scope of the visit still need to be reviewed together.

Describe how they like to be handled

Explain how your pet responds to brushing, feet being touched and unfamiliar sounds. A recent example is more useful than calling them easy or nervous. Tell us what helped on previous visits and what they prefer you avoid.

Include known product sensitivities as owner-supplied notes so they can be discussed before an arrangement is agreed.

Leave room to agree the plan

Your preferred finish and dates are a starting point. The service, handling needs and appointment details must fit the individual pet. Ask what to bring, who will collect and what information needs updating before the day.

Wait for the agreed arrangement rather than treating an online request as a confirmed appointment.

Your next conversation

Bring your notes and tell us which grooming service you have in mind. Grooming suitability is reviewed first. Sedation and veterinary treatment are outside the services shown here.

Share your preferred date, ask about preparation and wait for the visit details to be agreed. Our contact page is the place to start that conversation.
